PRIESTS
St. Peter's Parish was privileged to have the World Youth Day cross in the parish on two occasions. The cross first arrived in Trenton during the cold days of Lent, then returned at the end of May on its way to Toronto for World Youth Day six weeks later. Because of Trenton's proximity to Toronto, parishioners were privileged to host a number of pilgrims and to take part in World Youth Day activities.
Pictures of the World Youth Day experience in St. Peter's Parish have been made available in electronic format. Take a look through the on-line photo album.
Perpetual Adoration Begins
An important milestone in the history of St. Peter's Parish occurred on Sunday, November 23rd, 2003, the Feast of Christ the King, when Fr. Brian McNally, supported by Fr. Doug Kuzell of Holy Rosary Parish, Belleville, Deacon Bob Fencott, and parishioners, opened the Chapel of Mary, Mother of the Divine Mercy, thereby inaugurating perpetual adoration. In addition to scheduled adoration from Sunday midnight through Friday midnight, many parishioners have taken to visiting on the weekend as well, taking advantage of the electronic keyless entry. In the first three months, over 3600 visits to the chapel were recorded in the visitors' registry.
Parish groups and ministries in recent years include: Catholic Women's League; Knights of Columbus; Ladies of Columbus; K of C Squires; Parish Prayer Group; St. Peter's Cub Group; Scripture Rosary Group; Children's Liturgy Group; Quinte Development and Peace; Senior, Junior and Folk Choirs; RENEW; Eucharistic Ministers; Lectors; Vocation Promotion Group; Queen of Peace Prayer Group; Rainbows; PRISM (support group of widow/widowers).
In August 2005 a group of young parishioners went to Cologne, Germany to celebrate World Youth Day with Pope Benedict XVI. Click here to see some pictures.
