LITURGY COMMITTEE

The Liturgy Committee assists in planning special liturgical celebrations such as Divine Mercy Sunday, novenas, and the Corpus Christi procession.

MOTHER OF PERPETUAL HELP ROSARY

The group meets Tuesday mornings at 9:20 am in the church to pray a scripture rosary. Groups members also make a small voluntary donation which goes to the Sisters of Charity Mission Fund in Peru and to the Don Bosco Society for educating third-world seminarians.

The Mother of Perpetual Help Rosary group has been in existence since 1979. How can you get involved in this prayer ministry? Call the parish centre at 392-3767 and ask to be put in touch with Georgina.

NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING ASSOCIATION

The Natural Family Planning Association - Ontario provides free education in the Billings Ovulation Method to foster the understanding of fertility and support the planning and spacing of children. We are committed to advancing the development of knowledgeable, proficient and accredited instructors who serve couples and individuals. There are accredited teachers here in the Trenton and Belleville area.

The Billings Ovulation Method teaches a woman to interpret her natural signs of fertility through all her changing life stages from puberty to menopause. It is not the Rhythm method nor the Calendar method. It does not involve temperature taking. The Billings Ovulation Method is easy to learn and is highly successful when used by a couple to achieve or avoid a pregnancy. This method of natural family planning engenders co-operation and respect between the woman and man. It develops love and concern for each other and for the child, thus enriching their relationship.

Once learned, the method can be applied to all variations throughout a woman's reproductive life. There are accredited teachers in the Trenton and Belleville area.

To learn more, contact the parish centre and ask to be put in touch with Alanna about natural family planning.

PASTORAL CARE COMMITTEE
Eucharistic Ministers to Parishioners in their Homes

Members of this committee take Communion to sick or shut-in parishioners at least once a month on a schedule that is convenient to the parishioner and to the Eucharistic minister. Some prefer a visit weekly, others every two weeks, and others just once a month. The minister calls the parishioner before the visit - usually the preceding day - as a reminder. The consecrated Host is carried in a pyx and handled with suitable reverence.

Anyone wanting to have Communion brought to the home of someone who is ill or shut-in first phones the parish centre (392-3767) and arranges to speak with a priest, who then requests that a Eucharistic minister be assigned to that parishioner.

How can you become involved? Call the parish centre (392-3767) during office hours and ask to be put in touch with Georgina about becoming part of the pastoral care ministry.
